Because ministry leaders need intentional rest.

Serving On The Fly exists to provide church pastors and leaders with opportunities for intentional rest through guided fly fishing and hiking trips. While most people in ministry admit they would benefit from more rest, very few will take the initiative (or feel they can!) to clear their calendars.

As a pastor myself, I understand just how great an impact it makes when the church steps in to care for her leaders through prayer, fellowship, and the permission to retreat.

So here’s where you come in: by booking a trip for your church pastor or leader, you are providing them an opportunity to step out of the office and into the wild for the spiritual and physical recharge they need to continue serving with passion and purpose.

    FOUNDER

Ilya was born in Ukraine, grew up in Sacramento, and after spending 7 years in Dallas, TX, he moved back to Roseville at the end of 2020.

During a spontaneous trip to Taos, NM, in 2020, he was introduced to fly fishing and immediately fell in love with the sport, quickly learning everything he possibly could about rivers, trout, and the pursuit of new places to explore.

As a pastor, Ilya understands the unique challenges many in ministry face and is excited about sharing the therapeutic, spiritual, and physical restoration that fly fishing brings to those who are often focused on serving others before themselves.

Ilya is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM, 2018), an Executive Pastor, and completed the AC Fly Fishing Guide School program in the summer of 2021.
